Appendix - Importing Data Into Keypas - School Census Files

In order to enable filtering using contextual fields such as ‘Ethnicity’ and SEN classifications, the LA must import the school census files that are routinely collected as part of this statutory data collection.

Keypas accepts School Census import files in .XML format. Multiple .XML files should be zipped and uploaded in bulk, though you can upload single files if you choose to do so.

The LA census teams have access to census files in COLLECT and can assist with providing a complete set of school census files suitable for importing into Keypas. It should be noted that academy census data will be made available at a later stage than that for LA maintained.

The school census files do NOT provide pupil premium and disadvantaged data, rather they only include the Free School Meal eligibility indicator (also in Nova reporting as a filter/aggregation) from which some pupil premium is derived.  Pupil premium data (released separately annually by the DfE in July and then refreshed periodically) can be imported according to the processes described in the separate Pupil Premium Import guide.
