Local Authorities do not have a statutory duty to collect the Key Stage 2 teacher assessments, but Keypas provides a facility for managing the collection and reporting of these assessments where local agreements require the LA to do so on behalf of their schools.
In addition, Keypas also allows you to import Key Stage 2 datasets from the Key to Success / Primary Assessment Gateway websites, in the processes described below. All the reports, exports and cleaning routines found in Early Years Foundation Stage, Phonics (and Key Stage 1 prior to 2024) are also available for Key Stage 2, to allow the LA user to manage the analysis and reporting of these results.
KS2 Data from DfE
Used for: Viewing of schools pupil-level provisional results.
Files available from: Primary Assessment Gateway (PAG)
When: Once test results issued to schools (frequent updates also issued and Teacher assessment results are also included).
Import route: Import > KS2 Datafeed from DfE (school and pupil .dat files) (See this guide)
Contains: Teacher Assessment and Test results
KS2 data from Schools
Used for: Early viewing of school’s Teacher Assessment files. Files available from: STA/Primary Assessment Gateway (PAG) website or direct from schools where the LA is supporting submissions by schools to DfE where local agreements exist to do so.
When: During Teacher Assessment collection period.
Import route: Import > KS2 TA (CTF/XML files).
Contains: Teacher assessments results only.
We would expect one of the below file names for this import:
- nnnDDDD_CTF_nnnLLLL_xxx.xml
- nnnDDDD_KS2_nnnLLLL_xxx.xml
- nnnDDDD_KS2_nnnLLLL_xxx.xml
- nnn = LA Number
- DDDD = 4 digit Dfe number
- UUUUUU = 6 digit URN number
- xxx = Incremental export number
- yy = Year
- LLLL = Fixed value
Notes: Currently, schools submit their KS2 teacher assessment results from their school MIS, as a CTF file, directly to the DfE via the STA/PAG website. Local Authorities can download these CTF files from the STA/PAG website and import them into Keypas. Some Local Authorities may receive them direct from schools (to submit on their behalf) and these can be handled in the same way.
If the file downloaded from PAG does not have the expected filename, please try renaming the file per the above and importing it.
KS2 Data from AAT
Used for: Viewing of school’s pupil-level final results
Files available from: Analyse School Performance (ASP) downloads section
When: Same time as AAT Performance Tables publication
Import route: Import > AAT (.csv file)
Contains: Test results and teacher assessments
Notes: An earlier dataset is issued when the provisional schools checking data is released in early Autumn
Update task: Once AAT data is imported LA, AAT data sources will update in Nova Reports automatically but Insight data sources and Real Time Dashboards will need to be switched over:
Insight: To switch the data source to AAT go to Insight > Settings > Data Source and select 'from AAT'. The data source will then be updated overnight.
Dashboards: Ensure your schools / LA users can view the 2022 KS2 AAT data by switching the data source to 'Keypas (AAT)' in the Nova >Admin > Data Settings section
