Though Nova reports and Insight Analysis pages have been written to meet most needs, it may be that sometimes you will have a need to work with the data further, add in other information or simply report in a different way. When that is the case it is possible to export the matched CLA/CIN, school census and attainment data for your Virtual School cohort via a variety of methods from Nexus for different purposes. This will provide you with an easy way to match CLA/CIN census data with school census and attainment data.
Keypas - Tree View
KEYPAS - Tree view allows you to access the imported data from the CLA Census (SSDA903), the Current CLA cohort and CIN cohort data. All of these are presented matched with school census data. See THIS article for more details on working with Keypas - Tree View.
- CLA (SSDA903) - Allows selection of EYFSP, Phonics, KS1, KS2 and KS4 pupils for the selected year. Pupils details in each Key Stage are presented with attainment and school census data alongside the CLA (SSDA903) data that was imported. This is the 'official' census position as of 31st March
- Current CLA - presents the current CLA cohort (if imported) with matched school census data
- CIN Cohort - presents the CIN cohort with matched census data
Use the 'Export' button at the bottom right of the tree view to export the data.
Insight - Cohorts - CLA or CIN Cohort
Insight users have the opportunity to download the data for their CLA and CIN cohorts through the 'Export CSV' button at the top right of the Insight - Cohorts screen.
This provides you with the pupil details, contextual data from school census, CLA or CIN specific data, absence, exclusions and prior attainment across all Key Stages.
Click 'Export CSV' and the export will download to your default folder for downloads.
Nova - Export Data
The Export Data sub-menu item of the Nova module allows you to access NPD (National Pupil Database) data relating to CLA and CIN pupils. (If you do not have this permission available to you then please contact your Nexus Admin user who will be able to download it for you.)
From this page choose the required year, key stage and export combination, then click the Export To CSV button.
Note that the NPD CLA option is only available once the DfE have released that information to NCER and may not be available for the most recent year (depending on the timing.)
Due to the sensitivity of the data the download is made available as a password-protected ZIP.
Note or copy the password that appears on screen (taking care not to add any extra blank characters at the end) as you'll need it to decrypt the ZIP file and access the CSV file inside.
The CSV file can then be opened via MS Excel and used as required. Any changes made after download will not affect data in Nexus.
