It is an important task - at least annually - to ensure that your school records are accurate and reflect the current status, name and details of the schools involved. Some of the elements that can change - open/closed schools and URN details - can prevent school assessment data loading successfully. Updating things like school names are also important as school's don't change name lightly and where this happens, the Heads of schools like to see the name used appropriately. It is also - generally - good practice to keep records up to date.
The video below explains how this is done and takes less than 3 minutes to watch.
Please note that recent changes to the system with relation to School List functionality are not yet reflected in the video below in terms of the screens that are displayed, though this does not impact the accuracy of the content. Specifically this includes:
- New filters - not shown in the video - for school phase and school type. Though school type previously existed, it held options relating to both phase and type. These have now been separated for greater flexibility.
- As you will be able to see the default settings in these filters have also been changed to ensure that - by default - users will see the schools they most commonly need to work with. This means that Early Years settings, Colleges, Independent Schools are filtered out (though they can be added if needed.) This provides a long requested improvement to the school list which previously showed these settings and made it more difficult to pick out your state funded schools and academies you will be mostly concerned with.
