Can I import anything other than the list of outcomes shown on the spreadsheet?
You can import blanks but it is important to note that blanks will still count in your cohort and in your aggregated percentage for expected standard and other indicators (in effect decreasing the % of pupils achieving a given standard.)
What filename should I use?
The file name will be generated automatically when the Export button is clicked, providing the correct school and LA numbers have been input on the first tab. The correct naming convention is XXX_LLL_DDDD where X is the Key Stage, L is the Local Authority number and D is the school DfE number.
How do I delete predicted outcomes data from Keypas?
By re-importing the file with those pupils excluded. Upon import, the system removes all predicted outcomes data for that key stage and imports the data in your new file. As long as the pupils you want to delete aren't in the new file, they will be deleted from Keypas.
Can I discount pupils?
At the moment there is no option to discount pupils from your predicted outcomes data. To exclude a pupil from your results and aggregations, you would need to delete them.
If I am using the CTF import can I import outcomes other than those shown on the spreadsheet?
As above, the only other outcome you can import is a blank, anything else will cause an error when you try to import and you will need to remove these values from your CTF.
When collecting the primary key stages, are you expecting schools to asses where the child is at the point of collection?
For 2021 the collection is based on Teacher Assessment of the ACTUAL outcomes for a pupil at the point of assessment based on the evidence available to teachers and schools. For 2022 and beyond, the functionality is intended to be used for predicted outcomes ahead of statutory assessments.
Can CTFs be used for all primary key stages?
When CTF are available from MIS suppliers, these can be used.
Can the sheets in the spreadsheet be separated? Can we have a spreadsheet for EYFSP and a spreadsheet for KS1?
You can hide any sheets in the excel spreadsheet you don't want, only sheets with data will be exported as a csv file. If the intention is to allow different teachers to complete their own sheet and return them separately then schools could be advised to take multiple copies of the sheet, allow the different teachers to complete their own sheet and - when each is exported - the exported sheets can be returned as if they had all come from the same spreadsheet
Can the spreadsheet template be pre populated with pupil details?
If you wish to populated the spreadsheet before you send it to your schools, that is fine. However you will have to ensure that you send them to schools via a secure method and advise the school how to handle any changed cohorts (additional or removed pupils)
How are LAs expected to collect predicted phonics results? I could understand schools predicting required standard or not but not a score out of 40.
We are allowing you to collect either a phonics mark or an outcome, you do not have to provide both. If you choose to provide the outcome but not a score, there will be some parts of Nexus analysis that will be blank. Schools have the option to give pupils a previous year Phonics test but the school is recommended to ensure that they hold a Phonics test from the last few years 'in reserve' as it is likely that DfE may require schools to undertake a Autumn term Phonics check again and schools will want to have a check that pupils have not previously been exposed to if possible.
How will KS2 progress scores be calculated if only a small subset of schools submit predicted outcomes data and what methodology will it be based on as DfE have never published what should have been the 2020 progress methodology?
Progress scores will be calculated based on the available data, you can find our progress methodology here.
Will you be producing guidance files that we can share with schools, preferably editable format so LAs don't have to each produce their own individually?
A set of guidance has been made available for LA to edit to match their own offer and circumstances. This is based on spreadsheet submission as it is not possible for us to support multiple school MIS processes in documentation. LA can opt to create their own documents for key suppliers to schools in their areas.
Will UDFs be available in Nova reports?
UDFs will not be available in Nova reports initially, if we receive feedback that this is something import for LAs, we will consider UDFs in a future iteration of this development.
How will the system deal with a LA that imports data for a CLA pupil who has a different corporate parent LA?
If the importing LA chooses to share data with the corporate parent then the data will be automatically included in the Nova and Insight analysis for the corporate parent LA. LA are advised to do so as a matter of course - as they would presumably wish other LA to do so for their benefit - unless schools have not agreed to that option.
Why can't I load in the CLA out of area primary files? It says it's 'not my LA'?
You will need to use a filename where it shows your LA number and school number 9999 for every out of area CLA primary file. More information at the link below.
