Perspective / Perspective Lite are the portals for schools to access LA services provided by NEXUS.
Perspective Lite is the version included with an LA's NCER subscription that can be made available to every school within a subscribing authority.
'Full' Perspective is a version including additional content offered by Angel Solutions which is dependent on a school opting into (and paying for) the additional elements of the system.
Local Authorities have control over what can be seen by schools in the LA portions of Perspective (Lite) and that permissions functionality is controlled by Perspective Integrated Services which is in NEXUS.
You can access the Perspective Integrated Services page by clicking Admin > Perspective Services from anywhere in Nexus. Please note: only users with the 'Can access Perspective Services Management Console' permission can access this area.
The Perspective Integrated Services page gives you control of LA services that are available in Perspective and Perspective Lite. (For schools that have purchased 'full' Perspective, the LA can only control the LA services - not other functionality the schools has subscribed to with Angel Solutions.)
The sections on the Perspective Integrated Services page enable different levels of control over LA services in Perspective.
Insight: Access
This section exclusively controls access to Insight in Perspective; there will be four academic years available at any given time, with the new academic year becoming available approximately Jan/Feb.
These options control whether data is visible to schools in Perspective; you cannot control area visibility for individual schools, if an area of Insight is visible, it is visible to all schools that have access to Insight. You can however control the pages within Insight that are available.
Click on the edit symbol (pencil icon) to change the status of a service for a given academic year, then enable the areas you want users of Perspective Lite to see.
You can enable areas for each of the available academic years independently, so if you're not ready for your schools to see EYFSP data for the current academic year, they can still have access to the last 3 academic years. This functionality may be useful where emerging results have not not matured enough to be reliable and you may wish to avoid your schools making erroneous use of them.
Please note...
If you disable an area for a previous academic year but enable it for the current academic year, a Perspective user will still see trend data for disabled academic years. They will just not be able to select that year as the main focus of their use of Insight.
School List
You can control whether a single school has access to a service in Perspective or Perspective Lite, you can also bulk edit access to a service for all of your schools.
The top section, marked Default Setting enables you to set a default status for a service, this status will be inherited by any school that has been assigned a status of LA Default for the same service.
Click the edit icon to update the default status for a particular service; each service can have a status of enabled or disabled. You might use this functionality to keep services off until you are ready for them to be released but only need to change a single setting to enable them rather than for each school.
You can control single school access by clicking on the edit symbol (last column) alongside the school of your choice. This functionality might be used where schools have opted in or out of a LA traded service or SLA.
A prominent border around a service indicates that the school value for that service is not LA Default.
If you want to make a change to a service for all of your schools then click Edit All.
Select the service you want to update, and select the status you want to apply to all schools; remember if you select LA Default, all schools will inherit their status from the LA Default settings at the top of the page.
You can use the Export option to download your current filtered school list to Excel.
